Contest rules to 'Day of the Portuguese Navy' 2009
(adapted to english by Jim Banner 9H1RN)


With the support of the Cultural Commission of Navy and integrated in the commemorations of the Day of the Navy, the NRA has the pleasure to announce the annual edition of the contest 'Day of the Portuguese Navy'. This competition is opened to all the national and foreign radio-amateur's on the 16th/17th of May 2009 (SSB and CW) and 23th/24th of May 2009 (Digital).

Modes
The contest runs in the modes of SSB, CW and Digital.

Duration
The contest has the duration of 24 hours beginning at 15:00 UTC on Saturday and ending at 15:00 UTC on Sunday in both periods, on the bands of 10, 15, 20, 40 and 80 metres inside the segments and frequencies recommended by the IARU for contests.

Categories
Only single operator (excluding CQ5MGP that will be multi-operator) allowed.

Report Exchange
RS(T) followed from sequential number beginning in 001 and CQ zone (i.e. 599 001 14). Use only one numerical sequence for the whole contest.

Points
Contacts with the same CQ zone: on 40/80 metres count 2 points and on 10/15/20 meters count 4 points.
Contacts with different CQ zone: on 40/80 meters count 6 points and on 10/15/20 meters count 8 points.
Contacts with stations who do not send log, count only 1 point.

Multipliers
Each worked prefix counts as a multiplier only once for band and mode.
The same station can be worked in the same band and mode every 60 minutes.
The multiplier only counts if the worked station also works CQ5MGP.
Each multiplier counts 1 point.

Final Score
Sum of points multiplied by the sum of multipliers.

Awards and Certificates
To be accepted in the competition and to get an Award or Certificate the participants have to make at least one contact with CQ5MGP (in any band/mode), 50 contacts (in SSB and CW). For Digital there is no established minimum. Awards and Certificates will be presented to the first 3 classified of each mode (CW, SSB and Digital). Awards and Certificates cannot accumulated.

Awards Ceremony
The date and place to be informed on the website www.nra.pt and by email to the competitors.

LOG's
Log's must include: Sent serial number, Date, UTC, Callsign, Sent RS(T), Received RS(T), Received serial number, Received CQ zone, Mode and Band (i.e. 001 YYYY/MM/DD 1530 CT1XXX 599 599 003 14 SSB 20).
Log's to be sent to: contest@nra.pt before 1st June 2009 with attached file in ASCII format (TXT), or in ADIF format. The filename of the corresponding attachment being callsign of the station (i.e. cq5mgp.txt or cq5mgp.adi). Also include the postal address for sending the Award or Certificate.

Disqualifications
Any participating station can be disqualified if it is found to be breaking the Rules and Regulations or acting in an un-sportingly behavior.

Final Decisions
Participating stations agree to be bound by this announcement, and by the decisions of the Contest Committee, acting for NRA. The committee can declare Awards or Certificates void on any mode with less than 5 participants, but give an Award or Certificate to the first qualified per mode, in case this happens. The Awards and Certificates not collected at the Award Ceremony, will remain available to collect, and later be sent by mail to the supplied addresses.
